nieuws_laddertracksysteem_bredene

In September 2024, Taveirne started the renewal of the tram tracks in Bredene. This project is particularly noteworthy as it marks the first time the innovative ladder track system has been implemented in Belgium.

This prefabricated system, set in a concrete base, provides greater stability to the tracks and makes them more resistant to vibrations and noise. Additionally, the even distribution of load across the tracks reduces wear on both the rails and the underlying ballast, further lowering maintenance costs.

Up to 220 meters of modules can be installed daily, significantly reducing the overall project duration.

The ladder modules are designed to be installed with a minimal amount of concrete. After installation, the open spaces are filled with topsoil, ensuring maximum water permeability. The entire track is then seeded with grass, which not only contributes to a greener and more attractive streetscape but also helps prevent sand accumulation between the tracks. This approach enhances the sustainability of the rail infrastructure and reduces its ecological footprint.

The introduction of the ladder track system also presents logistical and technical challenges, requiring precise planning as well as accurate placement and alignment of the tracks.

The entire project is expected to be completed by the summer of 2025.

This milestone is an important step towards a more innovative and sustainable tram track infrastructure.
