Tram & Metro

Tram & Metro

Taveirne also applies its expertise in the development of tram and metro rail networks, both in Belgium and Northern France.

Working on metro and tram lines presents unique challenges due to their locations—in city centers, densely built-up areas, or underground—including:

  • Types of track construction

  • Accessibility of the worksite

  • Underground utilities, pipes, and manholes for public services, signaling equipment, and road signage

  • Vibration and noise dampening measures

  • Continuity of traffic flows, including tram and bus lines

  • Welding of various types of rails

  • Completing work within a short timeframe

  • Coordinating and carrying out roadworks

Optimal efficiency

To ensure optimal performance of tram and metro tracks, regular and properly executed maintenance is essential. For years, the MIVB has relied on Taveirne for the maintenance of its above-ground and underground rail network, as well as the tram and metro systems in Charleroi, Antwerp, Ghent, and the Coastal Tram.

Taveirne has played an important role in several high-profile tram and metro projects in Belgium and Northern France.
