Responsible entrepreneurship is in our DNA—especially in these times when socially conscious actions are more important than ever. Every day, we carry out the necessary work to keep our railway network (train, tram, metro) in top condition. In light of the current social climate, we at Taveirne-Vanormelingen-Stas recognize that we must take this responsibility even more broadly.
As a contractor, we regard the CO₂ Performance Ladder as a sustainability tool for measuring and reducing CO₂ emissions.
Our organisation continues to take further steps towards greater sustainability. The CO₂ certificate obtained in 2025 under Handbook 3.1 was successfully converted for 2026 to the latest and more stringent standard: Handbook 4.0 – Level 1..
The foundation of the CO2 performance ladder consists of periodic measurements, inventories, and evaluations of the CO2 produced by Taveirne-Vanormelingen-Stas. We accomplishes this by compiling a CO2 emission inventory. This allows us, as a company, to gain insight into our energy flows as well as the associated CO2 emissions.

The ultimate goal of the CO2 performance ladder is to reduce CO2 emissions by implementing reduction measures. Each measure is evaluated for its short-term feasibility and long-term effectiveness. The measures are incorporated into the action plan.

Reducing CO2 emissions can be seen as a large puzzle, with Taveirne-Vanormelingen-Stas placing its pieces. The other pieces needed to complete the puzzle further are what we aim to contribute by actively participating in various sector and chain initiatives.
