On November 25, 2015 a passenger train collided with a defective bus at a crossing in the West-Flemish Pittem. Very unfortunately, the bus driver was killed. Some train carriages were derailed and there was significant damage to the infrastructure.
Taveirne carried out the urgent repairs at the request of Infrabel.
These included:
- The breakout of distorted sleepers
- The remediation of ballast contaminated by diesel oil
- The construction of new tracks
Taveirne completed the repairs within two days. The railway line was fully operational on the third day after the tragic accident.
