Track renewal works at Bethune junction – Kortrijk

Commissioned by Infrabel, Taveirne carried out extensive railway works at the Bethune junction in Kortrijk during a total line closure of just 8 days. The works included the removal of 7 switches and existing tracks, the excavation and replacement of approximately 4,000 tonnes of ballast and track bed, and the installation of 8 new switches with associated tracks. Two switches were installed with the support of Infrabel using a Kirow crane. The new switches and tracks were then tamped using two tamping machines and completed with approximately 130 welds.

Work also continued alongside the tracks, where we constructed a new asphalt service road of more than 200 metres, including kerbs and cable trenches. This intensive line closure was preceded by 5 weeks of preparation and followed by another 5 weeks of finishing works. A challenging project in which planning, teamwork and execution had to come together seamlessly.
