Grands travaux sur la ligne ferroviaire à Ruisbroek
BProjet important pour les liaisons internationales
In Ruisbroek (Sint-Pieters-Leeuw), Taveirne, on behalf of Infrabel, is carrying out extensive works on the railway line to France and England within a ten-day period. Eight heavy switches are being completely renewed.
The old wooden sleepers are being replaced by durable concrete ones. “This is a very important project,” emphasizes Thomas Baeken of Infrabel. “This railway line is the gateway to the high-speed line towards France and England. It is heavily used by both international high-speed trains and domestic passenger traffic. The works will improve both safety and punctuality.”
The construction zone extends over 600 meters. In addition to the switches, new tracks and sleepers are being installed, and 4,000 tons of ballast is being supplied — representing an investment of €5 million.
In September and early October, two additional work weekends are planned to tackle the remaining four switches.
